Mr. Keerthi Jayasuriya

Chairman and CEO

Mr. Keerthi Jayasuriya graduated from Bath University, UK, with a Bachelor of Engineering. Subsequently he pioneered the engineering profession in the Sri Lankan newspaper industry. In 1985, he migrated to Australia and worked as an Engineer and project manager before embarking on his own business.

In 1999, Mr. Jayasuriya returned to Sri Lanka and founded International Scholar Educational Services where he remains Chairman and CEO. Mr. Jayasuriya was invited by the Ministry of Education in 2018 to serve in the committee of eminent professionals who drafted the proposals for Sri Lanka's National Framework for STEM education. In July 2019, Mr. Jayasuriya was elected as the President of Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council.

Mr. Jayasuriya provides leadership across the entire organisation at International Scholar.

Mrs. Saman Ruckmalie Jayasuriya

Director, Chief Counsellor

Mrs. Jayasuriya worked for the Australian government between 1985 and 2007. After returning to Sri Lanka in 2007, Mrs. Jayasuriya became Chief Counsellor at International Scholar. She leads a team of dedicated counsellors, many of whom have remained with International Scholar for over 5 years. This continuity is a key reason why International Scholar has very support from many of the students we serve.

Mr. Kumar Sangakkara

Director, Business Development

Kumar Sangakkara is one of the most recognized and respected Sri Lankans. He was a former Sri Lankan cricket captain and is widely considered one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Kumar is currently Lanka Business Magazine’s Sri Lankan of the Year and the President of the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (the first non-British person to hold that post). He also has multiple business interest in Sri Lanka, although International Scholar is Kumar’s first engagement with the education industry.

Kumar joined International Scholar in January 2020. Kumar’s role will be to enhance the brand awareness of International Scholar and suggest areas for business growth.

Dr. Dinuk Jayasuriya

Director, Strategy

Dr. Jayasuriya migrated to Australia in 1985. He completed his PhD in Economics in 2009 from the Australian National University (ANU) and also holds a Master’s Degree from the ANU and an undergraduate degree from the University of Melbourne.

Dinuk was previously an academic at the ANU where he remains associated in an honorary capacity. He has also been employed at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the World Bank Group and has consulted for the United Nations and the Asian Development Bank.

Dinuk currently engages in private sector activities in Sri Lanka, across real-estate and educational advisory services. This includes being Director and founder at Crystal Property Group, the developer of Crystal Sands luxury beachfront apartments.

Dinuk joined International Scholar in January 2020 where his role will involve focusing on developing overall strategy.

Ms. Lee Brentnall

Principal Advisor

Ms. Lee Brentnall holds a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics from Latrobe University and a Master of Public Health from James Cook University.

Lee has worked in Australia, Kiribati and Sri Lanka in clinical mentoring and training roles before joining Motivation Australia in 2012 as Prosthetist/Orthotist Consultant. Her most recent role as been as Program Manager and Motivation Australia’s gender focal point. She has worked in the disability field for 19 years and international development for the past 14.

Lee joined International Scholar in January 2020. Lee’s role will be to improve internal company processes and support counsellors. She will also take a lead in International Scholar’s corporate social responsibility activities.
